None of that shows up in a launch deck.

Many companies do not have clear systems for measuring PM impact. Engineering has velocity and uptime. Sales has quota. Design has research insights and shipped features.
But PM success often gets reduced to “the team seems happy” or “we shipped on time,” which are outputs of your work, not measures of it.
Over time, this creates a visibility debt.
You build expertise that nobody sees. You develop judgment that is not tracked. Then promotion season comes, and someone asks “but what did you actually do,” and you realize the story was never written down.

The strongest move is to do both at once: get better at showing your impact where you are, and keep real options open if the environment will not shift.
